InfoSift: Clearing the Fog of Misinformation
Empowering Teens to Navigate the Truth in a Digital Age
GOAL
The primary challenge of this project was to design a hypothetical app called Infosift, aimed at helping teenagers identify misinformation on social media efficiently. The success of this project was measured by its potential to engage teenagers in a meaningful way and provide them with tools to critically analyze media, thus fostering an informed and discerning user base.
EXPERIENCE
Throughout this design research class, I embarked on a comprehensive journey to understand the core issues surrounding misinformation among teenagers. The project involved crafting personas, conducting mock interviews to gather hypothetical feedback, and utilizing secondary research to inform the design process. The design phase included sketching initial wireframes and iterating them based on 'feedback' from potential users, which helped refine the app’s functionality and user interface.
OUTCOME
The final design of Infosift was met with positive reviews, showing a high level of engagement and interest among peers and instructors. Although hypothetical, the project demonstrated the potential effectiveness of Infosift in helping teens navigate the complexities of digital information. The exercise underscored the importance of design thinking in addressing social issues and highlighted how well-targeted user interfaces can contribute to solving broader societal challenges.
